Tribute to the Ancient Greeks
The Beechnut Collection plays on a common motif found throughout the Ancient Greek Empire. The beechnut, a small 3-dimensional teardrop always found in multiples, was ubiquitous during this period. If you were to stroll through the Ancient Greek halls of the Met or peer into the cases at the Getty Villa, you would be hard pressed not to find this motif represented.
To elevate this characteristic element of Ancient Greece beyond its strong roots and into the present era, Loren has juxtaposed the motif against a modern architectural and minimalistic element of the gold band. Though not in the tradition of the Ancient Greeks, the motif is enough to remind of the world they come from, the scale reminiscent of “goddess” jewelry and the richness of the yellow gold, impossible to separate from the ancient world.
