Rincon Tribal Gaming Commission
Rebecca Harteis began her gaming career in February 1995 working for the Viejas Band of Kumeyaay Indians as an armed security officer and a dispatcher. In 1998 she resigned from tribal operations and was hired as a licensing specialist under the Viejas Tribal Gaming Commission where she received training and mentoring on tribal regulations, the responsibilities of tribal gaming commissions and the importance of tribal sovereignty. In November 2000 she was promoted to background investigator and In December of 2000 she accepted an opportunity as a background investigator with The Rincon Band of Luiseño Indians to establish a new gaming commission as oversite for Harrah’s Resort Southern California. Since the Rincon Gaming Commissions inception, she has been intimately involved the development of the commissions policies and procedures; the development of online background management systems and strategic plans to property and licensee expansions. In April of 2008 she was promoted to Backgrounds Manager where she and her team of 5 oversee the licensure of over 1850 employees and vendor licenses. In addition, she has partnered with Harrah’s in developing the J-1 student exchange program for international work development. In March of 2016, she received her Bachelor’s Degree in Criminal and Social Justice with Ashford University, Cum Laude.
