Jason Nichols holds a B.B.A. in Finance from Northeastern State University, Tahlequah, Oklahoma, and has extensive experience in Indian gaming regulatory and policy issues. He currently serves as the Executive Director for the Forest County Potawatomi Gaming Commission. In his role as Executive Director he is responsible for the administration of Gaming Commission operations, and ensures that the Commission exercises its authority in compliance with the Tribe’s Gaming Ordinance and other applicable federal laws and regulations. He began his gaming career as a bingo sales clerk at Creek Nation Tulsa Bingo in 1996 while he was attending college. Two years later he joined an electronic gaming vendor, working in training and customer care. He was appointed to the Muscogee (Creek) Nation Gaming Operations Authority Board in 2002 and, from March 2005 to July 2006, he served as Deputy Commissioner of the Office of Public Gaming for the Nation. In 2006, Nichols was appointed Acting Gaming Commissioner and in January 2008, he was appointed Gaming Commissioner. In 2012, he served as Deputy Director of the Arizona Indian Gaming Association (AIGA) in Phoenix, AZ. In October 2012, Nichols was appointed by the Viejas Tribal Council as their Gaming Commissioner, where he worked to protect the integrity of all gaming and gaming related activities at Viejas Casino in Alpine, CA. Nichols received the Warrior's Award in 2010 (for Lifetime Achievement as a champion in the cause of Oklahoma Indian Gaming). Nichols is an enrolled member of the Muscogee (Creek) Nation.
