Karrie S. Wichtman is a member of the Sault Ste. Marie Tribe of Chippewa Indians & serves as the Managing Partner of Rosette, LLP - a majority Indian-owned & operated law firm with offices in AZ, CA, MI & Washington, D.C. Ms. Wichtman has been serving tribal governments & businesses for over 15 years. She is a proven grant writer & skilled in the drafting of tribal codes, court rules, policy & procedure including the implementation and operation of tribal freedom of information and privacy protection laws. Ms. Wichtman has focused a significant amount of time in the area of economic development in Indian Country applying her knowledge of tribal sovereignty, capacity building, program development & implementation, & community collaboration to enhance tribal governmental infrastructure & to assist Indian tribes in the formation of successful businesses necessary to sustain tribal government programs & services & tribal self-sufficiency. Her other practice specialties include Indian child welfare/child protection & Indian housing. Ms. Wichtman is a 2012 NCAIED “40 Under 40” Recipient, John D. Voelker Scholar and Board Member, a Michigan Legal Indian Services Board Trustee, a Councilmember of the American Indian Law Section of the State Bar of Michigan & the Chief Appellate Judge of the Sault Ste. Marie Tribe of Chippewa Indians.
