John Dinius is a San Diego native who has been a part of the Sycuan Casino team since 1993. Starting as a Bingo Pull Tabs Clerk, Dinius has held multiple roles in his 24 years at the property including Slot Attendant, Operations Manager and Slot Director. His unique perspective from working his way through the ranks over the past two decades, as well as his vast gaming experience, paved the path for his appointment of Interim General Manager in 2014 and General Manager at the beginning of 2016. As General Manager, Dinius uses a “bottom-up” philosophy rather than the standard top-down management style. By using team member focus groups he is able to learn insights on the successes and challenges each unique department faces in order to better serve the property’s guests – and to foster a striving work environment. Since his time leading the organization, Sycuan Casino has achieved multiple milestones including the launch of its highly successful San Diego-centric brand in 2015 and being named one of the top 10 casinos outside of Las Vegas by Yahoo Travel.
