T. Michael Andrews is the Chief Counsel and Majority Staff Director for the United States Senate Committee on Indian Affairs (SCIA) chaired by Senator John Hoeven (R-ND). SCIA has jurisdiction to study the unique problems of American Indian and Alaska Native peoples. These issues include, but are not limited to, Indian education, economic development, land management, trust responsibilities, health care, and claims against the United States. Prior to Capitol Hill, Andrews served at the Department of Homeland Security, Department of Justice and the Pascua Yaqui Indian Tribe in Tucson, Arizona. He most recently served at the Department of Housing and Urban Department, Office of Native American Programs, where he focused on delivering high quality housing to Native Americans. Andrews is also Chairman of the Victim Advisory Group for the United States Sentencing Commission.
