Steffani A. Cochran, President of Cochran Tribal Advocacy & Consulting, LLC, is a member of the Chickasaw Nation. Ms. Cochran was named the 2011 Chickasaw Nation Dynamic Woman of the Year and Global Gaming Business Magazine named her among the 25 People to Watch in 2014. Ms. Cochran maintains a long history of public service to Indian Country and specifically within the tribal gaming industry serving as the Vice-Chairwoman for the National Indian Gaming Commission from 2010-2013. Ms. Cochran represented the Pueblo of Pojoaque in its gaming compact dispute with the State of New Mexico currently pending before the Tenth Circuit Court of Appeals. She currently serves as the Chairwoman of the Pueblo of Nambe Gaming Commission. In addition to her gaming experience, Ms. Cochran has 20 years of experience in the practice of Indian law and has served in several high-level positions throughout Indian Country, including as Chief General Counsel to the Pueblo of Pojoaque, Special Counsel for Indian Affairs to the New Mexico Attorney General, Associate Judge for the Pueblo of Isleta and judge pro tem for the Southwest Intertribal Court of Appeals. She currently serves as a Tribal Judge for the Morongo Band of Mission Indians. Ms. Cochran attended Oklahoma State University where she graduated with a Bachelor of Science, Political Science. In 1996, she graduated from both The American University, with a Juris Doctorate and from George Mason University where she received a Masters of Public Administration. She resides in Santa Fe, New Mexico.
