Celeste Hughes serves the Soboba Band of Luiseno Indians Gaming Commission as Chair. Celeste is an enrolled member of the Cahuilla Band of Indians of California and comes from a long line of family members who have played an extremely active role in Tribal Government. She is following in the footsteps of countless generations of women in serving her people. Celeste has been a member of the Soboba Tribal Gaming Commission for more than 18 years and has been witness to the incredible growth of Tribal Gaming, not only in her state of California, but also on a National Level. Celeste is serving her seventh year as Chair of the Soboba Tribal Gaming Commission and her third term as Secretary of the National Tribal Gaming Commissioners/Regulators Association. Celeste brings leadership and knowledge to her role as Commission Chair, but her real passion is ensuring the next generation of Gaming Regulators can maintain and build upon what has been established by this generation of Tribal Regulators. As a member of the Cahuilla Band of Indians, she has served her tribe as a gaming commissioner, council member and as tribal chairperson. In addition, she served as a delegate for her Tribe to various tribal consortiums and she currently serves as Secretary for the Cahuilla Economic Develop Corporation. Celeste has over 21 years of experience in the area of tribal gaming. Celeste received her Associates Degree from Haskell Indian Junior College (Haskell University), attended San Diego State University, and after raising her family received her Bachelor of Science degree in Criminal Justice from the University of Phoenix.
