Mark Bussow is a proven leader and expert in public sector strategy development, enterprise governance, and organizational performance improvement, with more than 20 years of experience leading high priority transformation efforts across the federal government. Mark is currently the Senior Advisor for Government Reform to Senator Hassan. He is working with the Joint Economic Committee and Committee on Homeland Security and Government Affairs to develop a long-term government reform agenda which will improve the effectiveness of government and strengthen our governing institutions. Mark previously served as a senior advisor to the Commissioner of IRS, and as a specialist leader in Deloitte's Government and Public Sector Strategy offering. Prior to Deloitte Mark spent more than 17 years at the White House Office of Management and Budget, where he led the team responsible for government-wide management strategy and performance improvement. His team was responsible for the President’s Management Agenda; the Federal government's strategic planning, performance improvement, and performance reporting policy; and government-wide priorities including improving customer experience and reforming the environmental review and permitting process for major infrastructure projects. In early 2021 Mark temporarily joined the Treasury Department to help stand up the Office of Recovery Programs to implement nearly $420 billion in programs from the American Rescue Plan in response to the coronavirus pandemic. Mark has an MBA in public and non-profit management from the Yale School of Management, and a degree in philosophy from the University of Kansas.
