Alexander Gonzalez is Deputy Legislative Director for U.S. Senator Marsha Blackburn (Tennessee). He leads the Senator’s defense, national security, veterans’ affairs, small business, budget, and appropriations portfolio—overseeing NDAA provisions, appropriations submissions, and oversight initiatives. His work centers on Tennessee’s strategic defense and research assets, including Fort Campbell, Arnold Air Force Base, and Oak Ridge National Laboratory, with a focus on modernization, test infrastructure, and defense-industrial base resilience. Alexander staffs the Senator on the Senate Veterans’ Affairs Committee portfolio, where he advances legislation to expand community care access, improve accountability and modernization at VA, and support veterans and their families. He also coordinates federal grants support for Tennessee stakeholders and manages multi-office coalitions on defense and budget issues. Earlier, Alexander served as a Policy Advisor covering education, labor, healthcare, and social issues. He earned a Master of Public Health in 2023 and has extensive experience supporting defense, research, and veterans’ initiatives across Tennessee., Alexander speaks Spanish and Italian and is conversational in French.
