Uday Metpally is the Director of the Office of NIH Business Systems (ONBS), a position he has held since April 2019. In this role, he provides transformative leadership for NIH's mission-critical IT portfolio, focusing on strategic planning and operational excellence. Under his direction, the NIH Business System Cloud (NBSC) IT portfolio was successfully modernized in 2024. He is currently shaping the ONBS strategic plan for digital excellence by 2030, which involves integrating emerging technologies to enhance system stability, reliability, and cybersecurity. Before joining NIH, Uday served as the Director of the Division of Systems Planning and Development at HHS. While there, he spearheaded a major upgrade of the Unified Financial Management System (UFMS) and transitioned key financial systems to Oracle Managed Cloud Services. He also led a cross-functional team in designing and implementing a comprehensive segregation of duties (SOD) framework, a move that successfully resolved a critical departmental material weakness.
