Col King served 28 Years active duty in the Marine Corps working in armor and commanding reconnaissance organizations. He has experience as a Marine Corps planner and worked in Operations and Plans billets throughout his career from the battalion to Marine Expeditionary Force and Joint Force. After retirement, he worked 17 Years as a GS 15 as Director of Operations for Deputy Commandant for Combat Development and Integration, the Marine Corps Ellis Group, and Operations Officer for the Marine Corps Warfighting Lab. He also worked 14 months as a NIWCLANT civilian in direct support of the Marine Corps Project Dynamis. He is a graduate of the School of Advanced Military Studies. He is the lead Marine Corps author for the Army Marine Corps Counterinsurgency Manual, Small Unit Leaders Guides for Urban Warfare and Counterinsurgency as well as multiple Naval Operating Concepts and Marine Corps – SOCOM concepts.
