TascionePeter R. Tascione (Pete) is a Program Analyst, Palmetto Spark, Joint Base Charleston, 628th Air Base Wing. He manages an innovation lab established as part of an Air Force-wide program established by AFWERX. Palmetto Spark aims to empower Airmen to develop innovative solutions for improving mission capabilities, quality of life, and cost-effectiveness. and the Innovations/Process Improvement Program. Palmetto Spark provides a dedicate area for Joint Base Charleston personnel to prototype ideas, discuss process improvements, and brainstorm solutions to various challenges. Mr. Tascione retired from the United States Air Force in 2022 after 28 years of service and was selected in his current role in July 2023. Palmetto Spark aims to empower Airmen to improve their quality of life and mission capabilities, drive sustainable growth and innovation within the Air Force and foster a culture of continuous improvement and creativity. The lab serves as a meeting point for innovative minds across different units and even branches of the military, fostering cross-functional problem-solving. By providing access to advanced technologies like 3D printers, CNC machines, and virtual reality devices, Palmetto Spark has enabled personnel to prototype ideas and solve real-world problems. The lab's initiatives have led to tangible improvements, such as the development of automated processes that benefit not only Joint Base Charleston but the entire military. The lab's impact extends beyond technological advancements, as it has also fostered a culture of innovation, encouraging Airmen from all career fields to contribute ideas and leverage emerging capabilities. Through these efforts, Palmetto Spark has become a catalyst for change, driving sustainable growth and innovation within the Air Force.
