Vice Adm. Dion English, a native of Monroeville, Alabama, and Slidell, Louisiana, entered the Navy’s Broadened Opportunity for Officer Selection and Training (BOOST) program in 1987. He was commissioned in 1993 after graduating from Louisiana State University and the NROTC program at Southern University. He holds master’s degrees in Business Administration (Old Dominion University) and National Security and Strategic Studies (Naval War College), and completed executive education at the Stanford Graduate School of Business. His afloat assignments include disbursing and sales officer, USS Scott (DDG 995); cargo and stock control officer, USNS San Diego (T-AFS 6); supply officer, USS Barry (DDG 52); and commanding officer, Explosive Ordnance Disposal Expeditionary Support Unit ONE. Shore assignments include ship force support officer, Supervisor of Shipbuilding, Newport News; executive assistant, Defense Supply Center Columbus; deputy logistics operations officer, JTF–Civil Support, Fort Monroe; logistics readiness officer, USPACFLT; director of Supply Corps Detailing, Navy Personnel Command; commanding officer, NAVSUP FLC Sigonella, Italy; and deputy director for supply and distribution, J44, Joint Staff. His flag assignments include director of logistics, fleet supply and ordnance, USPACFLT; vice director for logistics, Joint Staff J-4; and director, logistics division, N4L, Office of the Chief of Naval Operations. Vice Adm. English is a Surface Warfare Supply Corps Officer, Navy Expeditionary Supply Corps Officer, a Joint Qualified Officer, and a member of the Defense Acquisition Corps. Under his command, NAVSUP FLC Sigonella was part of the team awarded the 2018 Admiral Stan Arthur Logistics Team of the Year. His awards include the Defense Superior Service Medal, Legion of Merit, Defense Meritorious Service Medal, Meritorious Service Medal, Joint and Navy Commendation Medals, and Achievement Medals.
