Asif Khan has been a Director at the Government Accountability Office (GAO), in the Financial Management and Assurance team, since 2009. His focus is on financial management and audit readiness at the Department of Defense. Mr. Khan supports oversight of agency financial management transformation efforts through financial and performance audits, and recommendations for removing impediments to financial statement auditability, strengthening internal controls, and modernizing business processes. Mr. Khan is a frequent speaker at professional conferences and forums on Federal Financial Management and the importance of strengthening accountability and transparency and modernizing business practices at government agencies. Mr. Khan joined GAO after almost 20 years in public accounting, auditing and advising U.S. government agencies. He is a Certified Public Accountant, Certified Government Financial Manager, and Certified Information Systems Auditor.
