J is an educator, game-based education evangelist, and LGBTQ+ advocate. They are the CEO of Liminal Data, a data driven game-based education startup, and previously led game-based education policy at the U.S. Department of Education and the Smithsonian Institution. J founded and coached the first esports team at an all-girls' school at Hathaway Brown School in Cleveland where they also teach computer science, organized the 2019 Ohio Esports Triathlon, is a contributor at EdSurge on esports, and is exploring the use of games as a Fellow at the Union for Reform Judaism.
