Mr. Hewett joined The Sanders Trust (“TST”) as Senior Vice President in 2010 and brings more than 25 years of diversified financial management experience to the Company. His primary responsibilities at TST include managing acquisition activity and arranging debt/equity financing as needed for portfolio expansion. Hewett's early career included 14 years of commercial banking experience with AmSouth Bank, with much of that focused on the Healthcare Industry. Mr. Hewett founded the Healthcare Banking Services Department for AmSouth, which was later absorbed via merger with Regions Financial Corporation. He has extensive experience in financing acute care hospitals, medical office buildings, inpatient rehabilitation hospitals, skilled nursing facilities, diagnostic centers, and other facilities typically located on hospital campuses. Mr. Hewett left the banking sector when he was recruited to be the Treasurer and Chief Financial Officer of Quorum Health Group, Inc. (traded on NASDAQ; now part of Community Health Systems), who was a valued customer at the time of his recruitment. Here he was responsible for overseeing all accounting, tax and treasury functions for this $1.5 Billion plus revenue company. The Company's operations included direct ownership of more than 20 acute care hospitals and management via contract of over 200 additional hospitals. He was instrumental in the successful syndication of a $1 Billion Credit Facility used to fund the Company's acquisition, development and on-going working capital needs. Since 2002, he has been actively engaged in a variety of real estate acquisition and development projects. The largest project to-date involved the acquisition and development of approximately 450,000 square feet of medical office space. His experience includes raising private equity and arranging financing for numerous project types.
