This session will highlight and review several alternative financing sources currently available for tribal entities focusing on non-gaming amenities. These programs can lower the cost of capital significantly such as government backed loans, HUD Housing Bonds, Tax Exempt Bonds/Loans, Strategic Lenders/Lessees and EB5 Lending. Although the majority of these programs typically provide funding for non-gaming uses, they do support ancillary amenities such as hotels, travel centers, infrastructure services, restaurants, housing, etc. The speaker will review a recent case study where a tribal nation was able to realize significant cost savings by combining several types of these programs. The speaker will review industry terms, process, legal requirements, application steps, timing and indicative rates for all of the presented financing techniques. Attendees from all areas of tribal nation leadership as well as tribal gaming management and economic development personnel will benefit.
