C241 | STEM/STEAM School Designation Program (Room 208)

16 Jan 20
2:00 PM - 2:40 PM

Tracks: Future of EdTech Administrator

Participants will learn about the STEM & STEAM initiatives at Miami-Dade County Public Schools: Since 2015, M-DCPS has emphasized the importance of science, technology, engineering, art, and mathematics education in students’ college- and career-preparedness through its school designation program. Schools must meet a rigorous set of criteria in integration, operational criteria, and academic performance to receive a STE(A)M designation. The district currently has 46 STEM and 74 STEAM elementary, middle, high, and K-8 schools. Schools designated as Silver or Gold have a higher percentage of students achieving a level 3 or higher on state assessments in science and mathematics than the district overall.
