Voice control has proliferated as a user experience across the lifestyle of the connected consumer. Research from Parks Associates shows 36% of US broadband households own a smart speaker with voice assistant and more than 50% of US broadband households with three or more smart home devices also own a home control system. Voice is being used in the car, at home, and on-the-go. While voice-based assistants are key features of smartphones, it is in the smart home and connected entertainment where voice interfaces will be able to demonstrate their full potential. Smart home control using smart speakers has more than doubled in the past year and there is further convergence between the entertainment and smart home ecosystems. This presentation will highlight how consumers are adopting voice control with entertainment and smart home devices, the leading use cases, and the impact of the voice interface on the evolution of the connected lifestyle.
