Karin Miller is the Owner and Founder of Colorado-based Zen Tenkara/Zen Fly Fishing Gear (Zen). The company designs, manufacturers and sells tenkara-style fly rods, lines, gear and accessories both to retailers and direct, online. Founded in 2012, Zen Tenkara is one of only two female-owned fly rod companies in the nation and is the only women owned and run, tenkara fly rod company.
Zen Tenkara has pioneered the broad application of this ancient Japanese fixed-line fly fishing method to “define American Tenkara.” While the method was originally designed for small fish and streams, Miller and her company are designing high performance, cutting-edge tenkara rods and pushing the boundaries of this reel-less method all over the globe. She’s known for creating a “fusion between tenkara and regular fly fishing to land such species as shark, tarpon, bonefish, carp, sockeyes, silvers and chum salmon.” Zen Tenkara offers the traditional tenkara experience but also makes muscle rods that deliver a different kind of adrenaline rush.
