Albertus Seba Posters

An Evolution Exclusive

Albertus Seba is one of the most influential figures in natural history. An apothecary in Amsterdam in the 18th century, he began curating a large collection of seashells, insects, taxidermy and other "objects of science" into one of the most well-regarded cabinets of curiosities in the region. Held in high regard by people like Carolus Linnaeus, the founder of biological bonomial nomenclature, Seba decided to commission artists to illustarate his large collection. In 1725 he began pulishing the eight volume catalog Locpletissimi Rerum Naturalium Thesauri. The illustrations are highly regarded and cited to this day, and we at The Evolution Store have acquired fifty original never before colored copper engravings and have used them to produce a series of beautiful reproduction prints on high quality paper.
