DAFNI was founded in 2015 by Sharon Rabi and her father, a senior engineer, after 3 years of R&D in their home basement.
In 2012, Sharon Rabi, a recent graduate in electrical engineering and physics, received a very short, unflattering haircut. Reluctantly, she bought a straightener and could not believe how incredibly hard and inefficient it was to use.
When Sharon and her father learned that the flat iron was patented in 1909, their curiosity ignited. After 3 years of research, failed experiments, and optimization, they developed the world’s first 3D hair straightening brush, named after Sharon’s younger sister, DAFNI.
They launched the brush in September 2015 when a simple demo video Sharon made gained 120 million views organically. DAFNI has sold hundreds of thousands of units instantly and is successfully sold in 16 countries without any exterior investment.
