Women In Defense (WID), an affiliate of the National Defense Industrial Association, supports women’s full integration into all aspects of national security, including senior leadership positions. Established in 1985 as a 501(c)3, WID is a dynamic community focused on developing leadership skills, building strategic networks, providing professional education, and encouraging mentorship and advocacy.
WID members include men and women working in defense companies, small, medium and large, all branches of the U.S. armed forces, government agencies, academia, associations and professional services. WID and its 21 chapters also convene national and regional events where members collaborate to tackle some of the nation’s toughest defense challenges.
WID provides programming and support to ensure the U.S. will always field a diverse, inclusive, high-performing workforce.
Finally, through its HORIZONS scholarship program, WID provides resources to exceptional women who intend to use their advanced education to lead organizations within the U.S. national security enterprise.
