Unna Bakery

Booth New Brands Pavilion

New York, NY
      United States

My name is Ulrika Pettersson, I’m a Swede and mother of two girls living in New York since five years. After 15 years in design I decided to do what I love the most, baking. I started my own bakery, making traditional Swedish cookies, we are called Unna Bakery and we bake at Hot Bread Kitchen in Harlem, NYC. I use my mothers and grandmothers recepies. The cookies are handmade, elegant and use few and high quality ingredients that are mostly organic. We do not add preservatives.

Some comments from our customers are

Delectable. Refined. Airy. Perfect cookies. They are so good!!!

Addictively delicious. So delicious!! New York’s best cookies.

It’s melting in my mouth. My god, fantastic! ;)

“I love the delicacy and rich history of these sublime little cookies—they pack a real punch in a small bite.

You can taste the quality of a few simple but very special ingredients—and they’re perfect for tea!”

—Rachel Safko, tea specialist and journalist.

Unna is lead by two bakers and we will grow with increased demand. At the moment we sell our cookies at Zabar’s, Bedford Cheese, Murray's Cheese, mouth.com, Farm To People, Foragers Chelsea/Dumbo, Schaller & Weber, Lucy’s Whey among others.

We put a lot of effort in the branding with inspiration from our Swedish cookie culture, the fika and kaffereps, known since the 1800s. We host small fika-events to spread the Swedish way of a coffee-break. I also talked during an Edible event about the cookies and the Swedish tradition of seven sorts of cookies. We work with Instagram, Twitter & Facebook as part of our marketing. We recently were on the cover of Edible Manhattan and we have also been featured in Food52, Edible Brooklyn (How to prepare a Nordic feast) Epoch Times, Nordstjernan and Norwegian American Weekly.
