The Air Force Special Operations Command was established May 22, 1990, with headquarters at Hurlburt Field, Fla.
The mission of AFSOC is to organize,train and equip Airmen to execute global special operations. We are
America's Air Commandos.
The priorities of the command are to provide combat ready forces; create an environment for our Airmen and families to thrive; transform training to optimize human performance; and modernize and sustain the force.
AFSOC provides Air Force special operations forces for worldwide deployment and assignment to regional unified commands. The command's SOF are composed of highly trained, rapidly deployable Airmen,conducting global special operations missions ranging from precision application of firepower to infiltration, exfiltration, resupply and refueling of SOF operational elements.
AFSOC has more than 19,500active-duty, Air Force Reserve, Air National Guard and civilian personnel.
