Grooming safety is a top priority and the AKC recognizes the importance of proper grooming for the health and well-being of dogs. The AKC has designed its S.A.F.E (Safety, Assurance, Fundamentals, Education) Grooming Program with the Safety in the Salon course as the central component. Course topics include best practices focusing on pet care and health, safety protocols, handling special cases, pet diseases, accident avoidance and sanitation.
