The Magnus™ S chip is a CMOS multi-purpose device incorporating the  proprietary Chameleon™ technology that enables smart passive sensing.  A sensor code computation unit and a wireless ISO 18000-6 UHF communication engine complete the single chip device.  Chameleon™ provides the device with the unique ability to re-tune itself as conditions change around the sensor.  The circuit dynamically adjusts the chip’s input impedance to correct for impedance mismatches that occur when changes alter the antenna impedance.  The measure of the antenna impedance is reported as the sensor code.  The sensor code continues to change as the antenna impedance changes due to external stimuli.  The sensor code provides a quantized measurement of this change in the external environment enabling smart passive wireless low cost sensors.  Moisture
and pressure sensing have been successfully demonstrated; and other sensor
prototypes such as chemical, proximity, humidity, and temperature are under development.
