CHERRY was founded in 1953 by Walter Cherry. The company was run as a family business until 2008 when ZF Friedrichshafen AG (parent company of ZF Electronic Systems Pleasant Prairie LLC) acquired them. Since 2008, ZF Electronic Systems Pleasant Prairie LLC operated under the CHERRY brand name for their keyboard, sensor and switch products. In 2016, the keyboard product line will become an independent company using the CHERRY brand exclusively (Cherry Americas LLC) and electronic components will be sold under the ZF Electronic Systems brand name.
As a result, CHERRY branded switch and sensor products will transition to the ZF brand name by January 1, 2017. No changes to the products are being made; the only change will be the brand name labeled on the products.
ZF Electronic Systems Pleasant Prairie LLC has been manufacturing CHERRY switch and sensor products for nearly 8 years and is committed to the continuation of premier engineering, reliability and overall quality in their electronic component products.
