The NBEF is a nonprofit organization in existence since 1979. Due to the efforts of the NBEF, bowhunter education is taught in all 50 states and 27 foreign countries. Students may attend a traditional classroom setting or utilize the option of online distance learning.
The standardized curriculum offered both in-person and online is relevant to tree stand safety, shot placement, game recovery, and game identification. Materials and information are frequently updated to reflect current trends or to develop teaching aids relevant to new methods of presentation. The standardized curriculum now includes a comprehensive crossbow safety course.
A bowhunter education graduate is encouraged to hone their shooting skills and have an increased knowledge of anatomy. Because a bowhunter education graduate is better informed, they present a more positive image of the sport to the non-hunting public and are more successful bowhunters.
