MSA’s Metals and Advanced Manufacturing Division has been providing turnkey computer systems, process control optimization systems, and legacy system upgrades to the metals industry since 1982. MSA optimizes inventory, scrapyard management, melting, refining and casting operations. MSA’s Blending Optimization Software Suite (BOSS™) determines the least-cost combination of raw materials to produce a given heat, lineup, or production schedule. BOSS™ includes optimization models for purchase planning, marshalling yard planning, under-crane optimization, heat charges, and alloy additions. The BOSS™ is offered as a server-based product (fixed fee) or as an Application Service Provider subscription (monthly fee). MSA's Raw Material Data Aggregation Service (RMDAS™) collects buy/sell transactions for ferrous scrap and aggregates the data into a web-based analytical tool to gain actionable market intelligence. Partnering with AIST, MSA developed and hosts the AIST Process Benchmarker (APB), a Web-based service for benchmarking operational performance metrics for key AIST Technology Committees. MSA’s GAUGE™ (Gather, Analyze, Utilize, Group for Evaluation) tool allows individual companies to define KPIs and other parameters for intra-company benchmarking and analysis. MSA's four business continuity/disaster recovery sites provide clients with secure data storage and hosting services.
