Now in its 50th year, Dan Dugan Sound Design has been designing automatic microphone mixing technology since the late 1960s. Automixing technologies invented by Dan Dugan provide the best possible mix of live microphones, providing fast, transparent cross-fades without upcutting, choppy sound or shifts in background noise. Transitions between talkers are smooth and consistent no matter how many mics are open, and operators can concentrate on overall sound quality rather than worrying about individual faders.

"Dugans" are used in live productions, news broadcasts, town hall meetings, installed sound, conferencing, education and more. Designed to patch into the insert points of mixing consoles, Dugan products allow users to take advantage of the consoles' regular features such as EQ and sends, while automatically managing live microphones. Faders can be left on their marks, and simply adjusted as needed when people are using the microphones. Units are available to accommodate standard types of I/O and operation, with analog, ADAT digital, AES digital, MADI and Dante interfaces.

In addition to providing his own products, Dan Dugan licenses his technology to other companies including Yamaha, Sound Devices, Waves and Protech Audio. Plug-in Dugan cards are also available for selected Yamaha and Avid consoles.
