Pets in the Classroom provides grants for teachers in grades pre-K through 8th to obtain aquarium fish, reptiles, small animals or birds, along with the habitats and products to keep the pets healthy in the classroom. Classroom pets teach children responsibility, enhance and enrich academic lessons, provide an avenue for relaxation when children are feeling stressed, and teach compassion, empathy and respect for all living things. More than 60,000 Pets in the Classroom grants have been awarded.
