Chinese Orthopaedic Association (COA) is a not-for-profit organization, which provides information and educational programs on scientific exchange, providing orthopaedic education and improving the orthopaedic health service level. With a registered membership of more than 30,000 orthopaedic surgeons out of 130,000 in total, COA is the largest and most influential orthopaedic society in China. COA is one of the specialty societies under Chinese Medical Association. It has ten sub-specialty societies: Joint Surgery, Orthopaedic Research, Spine Surgery, Bone Tumor, Arthroscopy, Foot and Ankle Surgery, Osteoporosis, Trauma, Minimally Invasive Surgery and Nursing.
The current president is Prof. TIAN Wei from Beijing Jishuitan Hospital, who is the first in China to carry out upper cervical spine malformation treatment and take the leading position of computer-assisted minimal invasive surgery in the world.
