Next Science's FDA approved antimicrobial biofilm wound gel, BlastX™, disrupts and penetrates the resistant bacterialbiofilm Extracellular Polymeric Substance (EPS) matrix that forms on more than 90% of chronic wounds and 6% of acute wounds. BlastX deconstructs the EPS bonds, destroys bacteria both free-floating and within the gel, and defends the wound from new bacterial biofilm recolonization. BlastX dissolves the EPS matrix while providing a moist wound environment conducive to wound healing without toxicity. BlastX is indicated for management of wounds such as Stage I-IV pressure ulcers, partial and full thickness wounds, diabetic foot and leg ulcers, post-surgical wounds, first and second-degree burns, grafted and donor sites. The antimicrobial biofilm wound gel targets and degrades bacterial biofilms in chronic wounds and employs a bactericide to kill Gram-positive and Gram-negative wound pathogens, including S. Aureus, P. Aeruginosa and other bacteria.
