The recently founded Nordmeccanica Group Vacuum Division showcases a wide spectrum of vacuum roll coaters for multiple industry applications. The primary specialization is Aluminium deposition on plastic or paper web by evaporation, characterized by high rate and fully automated process. Machine size span from narrow-medium width range (1-2 m) up to very wide coaters in excess of 3.5m and can be provided with plasma treatment. Traditional and popular models, inherited from the former Galileo Vacuum Systems expertise and updated and harmonized with Nordmeccanica design standards (V8met and Megamet), will integrate with a new breed of roll coaters (Powermet) with the industry highest performance, for high output demand. Another product line (Gammamet) is characterized by special design features, in particular the Multi-chamber geometry,which allows to use this metallizer as a platform for multiple processes and coating technologies, including, evaporation, sputtering, polymer coating. The same type of roll coater has been manufactured in a version for paper and paperboard metallization, resulting one of the industry more efficient and productive solution.
Other systems, introduced in recent years, to extend the versatility of vacuum coaters to speciality products, are becoming popular within the vacuum coating industry. They comprise the deposition of high refractive index materials, such as, zinc sulphide or low index-anti reflecting coatings, such as Magnesium Floride to produce optically active or variable films for the decoration or security applications. Nordmeccanica Vacuum presents a modular solution to be installed on the aluminium "standard" coaters.
Another add-on system is the in-line pattern metallization ("ILPM"), sort of "print-in-vacuum" module, to create any kind of un-metallized pattern on a metallized film surface with high quality accuracy and definition.
