The high demands of today’s surfaces and coatings that are engineered to be very hard, very thin or visco-elastic which requires correspondingly powerful measurement methods and systems. Make quick, precise and effective measurements of mechanical properties (nanoindentation, modulus, creep, etc.), coating thickness, material testing, and material analysis with FISCHER instruments.

FISCHER is one of the pioneers in the field of the instrumented indentation test method. For more than 30 years FISCHER has been developing cost effective measurement systems for the instrumented indentation tests from the nano to micro scale. All FISCHER micro- and nanoindentation instruments operate according to this method by measuring the depth continuously during the loading and unloading periods. The specified test load is generated with micro Newton resolution and the indentation depth is measured with a resolution in the picometer range. In this manner, the plastic and elastic properties of even thin coatings and soft materials can be measured. Some applications are ceramic coatings like ultra thin DLC, biomedical coatings, thin films of photovoltaics and batteries, and coatings used in cutting tools. The intuitive FISCHER software allows for indentation on multiple samples and automated calculation of mechanical properties free of any subjective influence, thus independent of the operator.
