The Certification Council for Professional Dog Trainers (CCPDT), established in 2001, is the leading independent certifying organization for the dog training profession. CCPDT offers rigorous exams to demonstrate mastery of humane, science-based dog training practices and canine behavior theory. Thousands of dog training professionals worldwide maintain the CCPDT’s certifications as a mark of high professional distinction.

CCPDT’s mission is to establish and maintain humane standards of competence for dog training and behavior professionals through criteria based on experience, standardized testing, skills, and continuing education. Our goal is to provide professional standards that support and promote excellence in the dog training and behavior profession, while giving dog owners a way to identify independently certified professionals.

We offer two paths to certification: CPDT-Knowledge Assessed/CPDT-Knowledge & Skills Assessed and Certified Behavior Consultant Canine-Knowledge Assessed.
