Shawn Bullard is the founder and president of Duetto Group, LLC, a Capitol Hill-based government relations firm that provides strategic counsel for UAS-related companies, public and private organizations, robotic start ups and defense companies, as they safely navigate the integration of UAS in the National Airspace System. Bullard served as an early advisor to the Alliance for System Safety of UAS through Research Excellence (ASSURE) and was the first federal policy advisor hired by then North Dakota Governor John Hoeven’s Department of Commerce to explore the commercialization of UAS. He was a key advisor in assisting the state in standing up its commercial UAS operations, and he continues to serve the state of North Dakota and the Northern Plains UAS Test Site. He is also a regular UAS Test Sites FAA Technical Interchange Meeting (TIM) participant and advisor. Before launching Duetto Group a dozen years ago, Bullard gained Washington experience as the vice president of government relations for a global PR firm, and as a legislative advisor and press secretary to a senior member of the House Armed Services Committee and House Transportation Committee, Representative Gene Taylor of Mississippi. As a Capitol Hill staffer, Bullard was the congressman’s lead on all telecommunications and high-tech policy. Bullard sits on multiple boards and advisory committees, and is chairman of the advisory board for Detroit-based SkySpecs, one of the foremost providers of automated drone inspection for wind energy companies. He is an active member of AUVSI, American Institute of Aeronautics and Astronautics, Royal Aeronautical Society, Aero Club of Washington, the National Guard Association of the United States and has served on the Board of Governors at the National Press Club. Shawn Bullard holds a Masters degree from George Mason University’s Schar School of Policy and Government, and sits on the school’s alumni board.
