Skanska USA Civil West


Mike is a 30 year veteran of the heavy-civil construction business, about half of that in field operations and half of that in engineering and estimating. Mike manages the Engineering and Estimating Department for Skanska USA Civil West out of the hub office in Riverside, CA. The West unit of Skanska is a $600 million per year business. In the last seven years, Skanska West has evolved from a primarily hard-bid, rip-and-read highway contractor to a multi-delivery heavy-civil engineering contractor. Skanska now designs and builds major transportation projects across the US, using many delivery models – Design-Build, PPP, CM/GC, Progressive Design-Build and of course, Hard Bid. Mike’s team has been responsible for many high-profile wins like the Regional Connector (a $1.1 billion design-build light rail transit project), the West Side Purple Line Extension (a $1.7 billion design-build heavy rail subway), 6th Street Viaduct (an iconic $240 million CM/GC suspension bridge), Mid-Coast Corridor (a $1.2 billion CM/GC transit project) among many others. Mike has been married 30 years to Amanda, they have three children and six grand-children. Mike loves woodworking and cooking and is an amateur photographer. Mike was born and raised in Southern California.
