Eric is a 30+ year veteran of the software industry where he’s served as an entrepreneur, software engineer, architect, and in various managerial roles. He is the current CTO of the Texas state-wide HIE for the Texas Health Services Authority, and the CTO/CIO of The Sequoia Project which operates the eHealth Exchange and Carequality and he is a co-author of many production specifications and standards. He is also is a former member of the IHE International Board of Directors, a current member of the IHE USA Board of Directors, and is the current Co-Chair of the an IHE standards committee. He also was recently appointed for the second consecutive year to the ONC Federal Advisory Committee Interoperability Standards Advisory Task Force where he is helping disposition public comments received by the ONC related to next-generation standards. Eric is the author of "A Framework for Cross-Organizational Patient Identity Management", co-author of the IHE handbook on deidentification and pseudonymization, and a active practitioner-researcher in the field of large-scale patient identity management.
