Phil Landfried (invited)
Assistant Commissioner, Office of Information and Technology
U.S. Customs and Border Protection

Prior to his appointment as Assistant Commissioner, Office of Information and Technology (OIT), Mr. Landfried served as Deputy Assistant Commissioner and as Executive Director, Cargo Systems Program Directorate, in OIT, providing leadership for all aspects of CBP's cargo systems. He brought a fresh perspective to developing software by employing the Agile methodology as OIT continues to advance the Automated Commercial Environment (ACE). In this past year, Mr. Landfried made several notable advances for the ACE program, including two significant deployments that improved cargo processing and our relationships with our trade partners and partner government agencies. Mr. Landfried also served as Executive Director for the Targeting and Analysis Systems Program Directorate (TASPD), in OIT. The targeting systems maintained by TASPD provide support to numerous federal agencies, including ICE, FBI, Secret Service, Department of State, IRS, Coast Guard, and federal and state task forces. Mr. Landfried has been instrumental in establishing real-time exchange of information with Canada and Mexico that helps protect our Nation's borders and has led CBP's efforts to manage and modernize a wide range of national security systems across organizational boundaries. His leadership has resulted in the development of systems that secure our borders, facilitate legitimate travel and trade, and expedite the processing of low-risk cargo and travelers.
