Bob Burleson
President
Florida Transportation Builders Association

Bob Burleson, is a native of Johnson City, Tennessee, and grew up in the construction industry, which he has never left. Following graduation with a B.S. in Building Construction from Virginia Tech in 1970, Bob worked for his wife's family construction company, Wiley N. Jackson Co., a major road builder in the southeast until its sale in 1987. With offices in Orlando and Jacksonville, as well as Roanoke and Leesburg, VA, he often was on the road but was stimulated by the variety of jobs, challenges, and experiences he encountered. He remained an integral part of company until it was sold in 1987. Bob accepted the position of President of the Florida Transportation Builders Association (FTBA) in January 1989 and will retire from FTBA at the end of 2018, marking 30 years with FTBA. Bob's greatest love is, without question, his family. He and his wife, Beverly, are blessed with three sons and six grandchildren, the loves of his life. They reside in Tallahassee. In October, 2008, he was presented the CUTR 2008 Transportation Achievement Award by the Center for Urban Transportation Research at the University of South Florida. In 2011 Bob was elected to the Inaugural class of The American Road and Transportation Builder's Association Hall of Fame. He was one of three industry champions elected the first year. He is also a member of the Florida Transportation Builders' Hall of Fame.
