A Los Angeles native, Andrea Borgen spent childhood summers visiting her grandparents in Argentina, experiences that eventually fueled her passion for food, beverage, and hospitality. After working up the ranks with both Hillstone Restaurant Group and Danny Meyer’s USHG, she set out to launch her own concept, an approachable bar and restaurant, that would anchor the neighboring community, much like the classic corner cafes of Buenos Aires. Barcito opened in Downtown LA (just 3 blocks from the Staples Center!) in September of 2015. In April 2016, the restaurant transitioned to a hospitality included no-tipping model (very similar to that of USHG), joining a movement that seeks to better compensate both front and back-of-house employees, and provide continued benefits (including healthcare coverage) to the entire team.
