Mr. Wygal is a native of Coronado, California who began his government service in 1979 as an Airman in the United States Air Force. He served on active duty for four years as a Security Policeman supporting the Strategic Air Command and was honorably discharged as a Sergeant in 1983. Mr. Wygal returned to San Diego to pursue his education and was subsequently commissioned an Army Aviation Officer in 1988 through the Army Reserve Officers Training Corps at San Diego State University. After completing initial Army Aviation Training, he served in a variety of operational Aviation, Military Intelligence, and Recruiting assignments throughout the United States, Germany, and Korea. Mr. Wygal was privileged to serve as the Commander of B/224 MI BN (AE), Hunter Army Airfield, Savannah, Georgia and the Fresno Army Recruiting Company, Fresno, California during this time. Mr. Wygal transitioned to the Army Acquisition Corps in 2001 and served in a variety of program management and staff positions at the National Reconnaissance Office, United States Special Operations Command where he deployed to Afghanistan in 2007 in support of Operation Enduring Freedom, and Program Executive Office – Aviation. His final military assignment was with the Program Executive Office for Command, Control and Communications-Tactical as the Project Manager for Tactical Radios and Acting Director for the Joint Tactical Networking Center. Mr. Wygal retired from the military in January 2015, and was privileged to be selected to serve as the Director for the Joint Tactical Networking Center.
