Steve Gonzalez is the senior manager of brewing and innovation for the small batch program at Stone Brewing. In this position since 2012, Steve has managed pilot brewing on a six-barrel system, the barrel-aging program, and research of hops and raw materials for Stone. He oversees special creations such as cask-conditioned beers, experimental sours and Stone’s Small Batch series of corked-and-caged 500ml bottles. In 2018, Gonzalez expanded his position to lead the brewing program at Stone Brewing – Napa where he produces small batch creations exclusive to the brewery and Tap Room. Steve began brewing professionally as a shift brewer in 1995 and obtained a master of science in brewing and distilling from Heriot-Watt University in Edinburgh, Scotland in 2001. Since then he has worked in production, QA, product development, and research and development for various breweries, wineries, and distilleries. After a long day of taste-testing barrel-aged beers, his favorite beer to enjoy is Stone Ruination Double IPA 2.0.
