FONDATRICE YMER& MALTA

Coming from the world of Cinema, Valérie Maltaverne has kept a certain family spirit. Having spent 20 years as a cinema and TV producer, she had, for example, the original idea of making 26 great names of Comics adapt their favorite fairy tales: Moebius, Druillet, Cabu… Cartoon and design share, according to Valérie, the same creation method: finding a new talent through instincts, trusting this talent and guiding him to a place he would not achieve all by himself; having an intellectual interchange with this designers, she choses them based on instinct, affection, and of course the singularity of their drawings, which must show a rich and sensitive personality. Valérie guides their creations also assuring the commercial future of the pieces. A new kind of drawing crossed Valérie’s world when she renewed her home in Paris. To follow all the renovation process opened and prepared her to three-dimensional design, which she explores today with YMER&MALTA. To recognize and reclaim trends, defining clear artistic directions to better guide the designers work is part of Valérie’s job. “ When we start working in a collection, the designers are very enthusiastic, proposing plenty of ideas, all interesting in general, but not always realistic. I then guide them, channeling their creativity with care. “ Once the ideas are defined and the drawings finished, Valérie puts herself on the research of the best qualified artisans. “ It is not about finding just a good technician. We need the artisan to feel the project, interfere with his opinions, find solutions, do the impossible!”. To follow the production, keep up with the delays, find solutions without compromising the aesthetics are some of the challenges Valérie Maltaverne faces everyday with the same passion.
