Jodi Ito is the Information Security Officer at the University of Hawaii (UH) since 2000 and has been with the University since 1982. She is responsible for the security and protection of the information assets for the University of Hawaii System which includes the development and management of policies and procedures for the UH information security program, conducts risk & vulnerability analysis for critical assets, conducts investigations into cyber incidents, & develops/conducts training on information policy & security issues across the entire UH system. She supervises the two members of the UH Information Security Team and convenes the UH Data Security Leadership Council (comprised of UH senior administrators from all campuses) and UH IT Security Leads (comprised of senior technical staff from all campuses). Additionally, she is a member of the UH Facility Security Office to support UH cleared contractors. She is a principle organizer of the planning and implementation team that conducts annual cyber defense exercises (in 2013, 2014 & 2015) in partnership with the State of Hawaii Department of Defense and the University of Hawaii and has recently executed, for the US Coast Guard and the Area Maritime Security Committee, the January 2015 Cyber Security exercise for the Honolulu Harbor port tenants. She has been working with UH faculty from all 10 campuses to develop educational pathways throughout the entire UH system in cyber security and has been working to identify and strengthen cyber security capabilities within the UH system including working with campuses to become certified as Centers of Academic Excellence in Cyber Defense.
