Mr. Desmond is assigned to USSOCOM as the Chief of the Identity Management Branch responsible for management and protection of 69,000 SOF personnel throughout the enterprise. Prior to his assignment at USSOCOM, Mr. Desmond was selected to attend a one year National Security Fellowship at the John F. Kennedy School of Government, Harvard University. Previously Mr. Desmond has also served as the director of an Identity Management organization within the Department of Defense, a Special Agent with the Washington Field Office of the FBI, and served 23 years in the United States Army on both active duty and the reserves. Mr. Desmond is a veteran of Desert Shield, Desert Storm, and Operation Iraqi Freedom IV and V. During his service in the US Army, Mr Desmond also served as Eurasian Foreign Area Officer. Mr. Desmond has a Bachelor of Arts from Oregon State University, a Master of Arts from Indiana University and has published articles in the Journal of Low Intensity Conflict and Law Enforcement, and a book on Soviet Military and Intelligence Services Camouflage. He has numerous awards from the United States Army, FBI and the Department of Defense. Mr. Desmond and his wife Rita reside in Tampa, Florida.
