Fred Oshiro, P.E. – Engineer III, Maui Electric Company, has nearly 30 years of experience as an electrical engineer and has spent over 25 years providing engineering solutions to the utility industry. He is currently an Engineer III with Maui Electric Company where his primary focus is distribution planning for the installation of renewable distributed energy resources, customer sited combined heat and power generation as well as traditional customer loads. Other responsibilities include technical support for Customer Engineering, T&D operations, Power quality and SCADA departments. Since joining Maui Electric Company as a Staff Engineer in 1992, he has also held the positions of Electrical Systems Engineer and SCADA/EMS Engineer. Prior to Maui Electric Company, Mr. Oshiro worked at the Naval Electronics Engineering Activity, Pacific and the Hawaiian Commercial and Sugar Company. He graduated from the University of Hawaii in 1989 with a degree in Electrical Engineering. He has been a registered professional engineer in the state of Hawaii since 1995.
